airBaltic and Bulgaria Air Start Codeshare Cooperation

The Latvian national airline, airBaltic, and Bulgaria’s flag carrier, Bulgaria Air, have launched a new codeshare partnership, effective from May 8, 2024. This agreement enhances travel flexibility for passengers flying between Latvia and Bulgaria, as well as to other destinations within the airlines’ networks.

As part of this codeshare cooperation, airBaltic will add its code (BT) on the Sofia-Varna route. Meanwhile, Bulgaria Air will place its code (FB) on the Sofia-Riga route and on airBaltic-operated flights from Riga to Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen, and Helsinki.

The first codeshare flight took place on May 14, 2024. This partnership is expected to attract an increasing number of passengers, allowing customers of both airlines to benefit from seamless connectivity through their respective hubs.

Martin Gauss, President and CEO at airBaltic, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration: “We are glad to enter a codeshare agreement with Bulgaria Air – shortly after the launch of our first direct route from the Bulgarian capital to our home base in Riga. This partnership benefits local Baltic travellers with access to the versatile network of Bulgaria Air and local travellers in Bulgaria can now enjoy easier access to airBaltic’s destinations in Europe. These routes further strengthen our commitment to providing exceptional service and connectivity to Bulgarian passengers as a national flag carrier.”
